Profile & clean a CSV

See what is in a data file, then fix duplicates, blanks and messy headers.

  • Runs on your device, nothing uploaded
  • Free, no sign-up, no watermark
  • Data engine (DuckDB) loads once

Before you start

These tools are free for everyday use. Please only use files you have the right to use, and don’t use them to mislead, harass or harm anyone, for example by changing documents or IDs, or editing photos of people without their consent.

To keep things that way, images are checked on your device for explicit or violent content, and extracted text is checked for threats. The checks run in this tab, so nothing is uploaded.

Drop a data file here

CSV, TSV, Excel (.xlsx), Parquet or JSON, up to 300 MB (Excel up to 50 MB).

How to use it

  1. Drop a CSV, TSV, Excel (.xlsx), Parquet or JSON file.
  2. Read the profile: every column with its type, how full it is, unique values and the most common entries.
  3. Tick the fixes you want, check the preview, then download the cleaned file.

Good to know

  • The original file is never changed. You download a new, cleaned copy.
  • "Duplicate rows" means rows that are identical in every column, after the other fixes are applied.
  • Tick Excel-friendly CSV if names or symbols look garbled when you open the result in Excel.
  • For multi-sheet Excel files, the first sheet with data is used. Use SQL on CSV & Excel to work with every sheet.

Questions

Is my data uploaded?

No. The file is read by your browser and analysed by DuckDB running inside this tab.

What does "tidy column names" do?

It turns headers like Customer Name and Order # into customer_name and order: lowercase, no spaces or symbols, and no duplicate names. That makes the file easier to use in Excel formulas, SQL, Python and Power BI.

How are the column types detected?

DuckDB samples the file and picks the narrowest type that fits every value: whole numbers, decimals, dates, true/false, or text.

Can I see exactly what changed?

Yes. After you pick fixes, the summary shows how many rows were removed and how many cells were changed, with a preview of the cleaned rows.
